Application Instructions
Categories of Applicants: Applicants for the Professional Scholars Grant includes art historians, critics or writers. All will need to substantiate a prior record of publication in the field of the visual arts of the African Diaspora to be eligible for this grant.

Terms and Conditions

The recipient of the grant must complete the proposed work during the twelve-month period following the announcement of acceptance of the grant. Grants will be issued in May of 2007, therefore the completion of work will come due in May of 2007. Grants cannot be offered to Directors or Selection Committee Members of the Foundation or their relatives. The deadline for submission is February 28, 2007.

Instructions:

(1) Submit six completely filled out and signed copies of the application form and mail it to The Anyone Can Fly Foundation, Inc. POB 429 Englewood, New Jersey 07631. Please include your complete street address, as well as your current mailing address, telephone number, cell phone number, and email address. No electronic, fax or e-mail submissions will be accepted. No applications will be considered after the February 28, 2007 deadline.

In addition to the application please provide six copies of the following in support of your application:

(2) A vitae, or a biographical statement no longer than five typewritten pages in length, including a list of prior publications in the field.

(3) A Project Proposal no longer than 1000 words, double spaced typewritten pages in length on one of the following Master Artists: William H. Johnson, Edmonia Lewis, Harriet Powers, or Charles White.

(4) A list of images along with documentation that you have identified the rightful copyright owner(s) and a written response on their letterhead affirming that they are indeed the legitimate copyright holder and they are able to grant the Anyone Can Fly Foundation copyright permission for the proposed project. You may also attach to this a completed "Non-Exclusive Copyright Permission Form." Click here to download: Non-Exclusive Copyright Form. (5) A sample of writing on the subject of the grant no longer than 20 typewritten double spaced pages in length.

(6) No more than three previously published articles or one book in the field of the visual arts in the African Diaspora.

(7) Three letters of reference from professional scholars and/or writers or critics who have supervised your work in the field of the visual arts to be mailed directly to the foundation.

Applications should be presented in a report binder or portfolio with all of your documents assembled in order from (1) to (5) Please attach a label to your binder with your name, complete street address and current mailing address, phone, cell phone, and fax number, email address and project title on the outside cover.

Applications that differ from the described format will be rejected without prior notice.
